Jiggery Pokery

Loads of love for Jiggery Pokery's signature surreal set design and art direction on Toddla T's new video featuring Roots Manuva.

Toddla T - Watch Me Dance with Roots Manuva.

Jiggery Pokery are set designing slash art directing London duo Anna Lomax and Lauren Davies who have been working together since meeting on the BA Illustration course at Brighton University.  The pair have undertaken big campaigns for clients as far ranging as Selfridges, Nando's and The Independent; you might remember their make-up themed window for Topshop Oxford Circus Concessions.

Previous work also includes a colour coded rainbow of books designed for the shop window of YCN reading library which was later exhibited in the 2010 Brit Insurance Design Awards at the Design Museum.

The Jiggery Pokery + YCN relationship remains strong with their latest collection currently on sale via their website shop.  From handmade cushion stacks to hamburger bicycle bells, 'Eat Fast Die Young' gives a loud and clear "BORE OFF" to healthy eating and finds inspiration in the pair's nostalgic fondness of fast food and the associated design culture.

The wall they created on digital jumble sale webiste Supermarket Sarah was one of the most memorable, with their mannequin heads being a particular highlight.

And with that, I'm off to buy some glitter pens.

A Tribute to The Honours of Scotland

As a tribute to the oldest crown jewels in the British Isles - The Honours of Scotland, Master blender  at the Chivas Brothers Brewery, Colin Scot has dug out their finest, oldest Whisky aged 45 years old.  The Chivas Brothers Brewery has teamed up with "the worlds oldest jewellers" Garrards' creative director Stephen Webster to create the bottle.

Made from black porcelain, 413 black & white diamonds, 22 carat gemstones and crafted in gold and silver, this is as luxurious as it gets.  There are only 21 bottles avaliable - costing  $200,000 each.

I wonder how much they'll be worth a century down the line!
I wonder how potent it will be too!!

adidas Originals by Originals Jeremy Scott

I don't know what's happening to me of late but I have put my all-consuming obsession with tennis wear on hold for a teeny tiny while and have started to get a little too OCD over OTT streetwear, in particular, trainers.  These cavegirly Jeremy Scott Originals for adidas are incredible.

Fun.  And if you're a 90's kid desperately missing Sooty & Sweep, or purely have a penchant for panda footwear, Jeremy has put Soo (what a woman) on some shoes to accommodate for you too.

Can't help wishing there were a little pair of Louis Vuitton-esque PVC panda ears to complete the look though... Still, amaze.

And, just so you know, these little blighters are my new kicks.  I never thought I could love a pair of shoes as much as a brogue, boot, pump or heel... and in a size 3 from the Juniors section at JD Sports = tax free.  Love.

Human Hair Sunglasses

Azusa Murakami & Alexander Groves, graduates from the Royal College of Art, have together used human hair strands to create the frame of glasses.

With most of us thinking about sustainability, this creation is 100% biodegradable (just the frames), which leaves us not feeling so guilty when we're wearing our sunglasses.

The designs of the frames also stick to current fashion trends.

First Ever Animated Tattoo

The first bar-coded tattoo by Karl Marc from the "Mystery Tattoo Club" in Paris.  This artistic innovation is a combination of tattoo design and technology, which is part of 'Ballantines' Human API Project' for their 'Leave an Impression' promo.

Scanning a matrix code, your phone will then connect to a site which contains an animation for the tattoo.

Look out for the Graffiti version using spray art and technology on Thursday July 14th 2011.

Bjork + Dazed

After this sneak peek of pictures released yesterday, I absolutely can't wait to pick up a copy of the August edition of Dazed & Confused Magazine, guest edited by Bjork.

It was last week announced last that the Finnish popstrel will also be headlining Sunday night of Bestival in September. BJORK.IS.BACK!

Berg Rethinking Receipts

Receipts have always been under the Quite Important Keepsake umbrella along with travel tickets, cinema stubs etc, so it's a joy to find that London design agency Berg have designed a receipt to look as lovely and important as your day might turn out to be.

The customisation aspect feeds into the trend of unique shopping experiences.

Whilst localised stories and events is a moderm twist on your supermarket's noticeboard.

WHAT THEY SAY:
"We’ve added semi-useful info-visualisation of the foods ordered based on “what the till knows” – sparklines, trends – and low-tech personalisation of information that might be useful to regulars. Customers can select events or news stories they are interested in by ticking a check box.  We think the humble receipt could be something like a paper “app” and be valuable in small and playful ways."

HMS Flake 99: Ice Cream Boat

An amphibious ice cream van was spotted sailing down the Thames past Parliament.  'HMS Flake 99' was created to mark National Ice Cream Week and highlight how vans are being driven off the roads by soaring fuel costs and council red tape.

The ice cream industry is in meltdown on dry land with the number of vans falling from 20,000 to just 5,000 over the past 50 years.  A growing number of councils ban vans from housing estates, parks and outside schools because of concerns about noise pollution and childhood obesity.  Ice cream firms are also being hit hard by the rising cost of the ingredients milk and sugar, and record petrol prices.
